The Epicenter
Seattle, WA | Architect: Bumgardner
| Completion Date: 2003
Jack Wiggins provided structural design for the Epicenter Building located at the gateway to the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington.
The Epicenter Building is a 200,000 SF, mixed-use residential community built on the former site of The Red Door. The 8-story design features five wood-framed levels of 128 residential units and live/work lofts, 30,000 SF of ground-level storefronts (including a PCC grocery store and Pete's Coffee), and two concrete post-tensioned levels of underground parking for 188 vehicles. A variety of forms and colors are used to reflect the surrounding neighborhood, including "artist-designed" pieces that are integrated into the building.
The Epicenter won the 2004 Project of the Year in NAHB’s Pillars of the Industry awards.
*Jack and Scott performed design work for the Epicenter Building while with another firm.
