Fort Ward Bunker House

Bainbridge Island, WA | Architect: Eggleston/Farkas Architects, P.S.| Completion Date: 2005

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural design for this modern residence that commands an impressive view of the surrounding Puget Sound, once occupied by a World War II-era defense control lookout. The historic lookout, composed of 14-inch thick concrete, was largely preserved, rehabilitated and used as a feature portion of the new residences' foundation wall system. The new residential structure is supported primarily by a substantial steel framing system, providing both support and the opportunity to express the deep overhang elements along the front.
