Westside School

Westside School

Seattle, WA

The Westside School project in West Seattle’s Arbor Heights neighborhood is an outstanding example of adaptive reuse. The project involved modernizing and adding 20,000 square feet to the 1970’s Hillcrest Presbyterian Church to create a state-of-the-art K-8 school, while maintaining the character of the original building. Quantum worked closely with SKL Architects to overcome technical and budgetary challenges to help them realize their incredible vision for the school.

REO Flats

Reo Flats

Seattle, WA

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural and temporary shoring design for this mixed-use residential apartments building located on 14th Avenue. Located in the Pike-Pine neighborhood on Capitol Hill, this project adds high quality, contemporary multi-family residential units to the bustling community. The seven-story building developed by Madrona Real Estate of Seattle contains 108 living units, including below grade parking with 79 parking spaces and 7,200 square feet of street level retail spaces.

REO Flats is named for Ransom E. Olds, who was a pioneer in the American auto industry. The Oldsmobile brand was named after him, and the car company once operated on Capitol Hill’s historic auto row where the new building is now located. REO Flats includes the original masonry facade of a 1925 structure that was on the site, and the entry is lined with brick salvaged from the Supply Laundry Building in South Lake Union. A 32-by-42-foot tall mural painted on the south side of the building depicts the REO Speed Wagon, considered to be the ancestor of the pickup truck.
