Tommer Building

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural engineering and construction support for this four-story, 25,000 square foot mixed-use space located near downtown Ballard. The Tommer Building used heavy timber construction along with exposed concrete walls and steel beams to create this modern Scandinavian design, including access to natural light with its large panel windows. With sustainability and community in mind, this building includes bike storage, flexible floor plates for custom layouts, a partial green roof, and a spacious roof deck with views of the city

Solis – 1300 East Pike

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural engineering design and construction support for this 45,000 square foot 7-story mixed-use building located in the Pike-Pine corridor of Capitol Hill. Solis is built to Passive House standards that achieves better air quality and superior energy efficiency.  Solis is currently the largest certified Passive House multi-family building in Washington State.

The first floor of this highly energy efficient facility includes retail and commercial spaces along East Pike as well as the residential open-air lobby for its tenants. Floors 2-6 include 45 apartment units that range in size from studio to two-bedroom. The green roof top space is accessible for all of its tenants and includes a panoramic view of Capitol Hill, open rec spaces and an edible garden.  There is also one level of below grade parking.

ROOTS Shelter

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided pro-bono structural design and construction support for the renovation of a 14,000 square foot building in University District to create accommodations for houseless individuals ranging from 18-25 years old. This building now includes shelter, cooking, dining, case management, administration, and hygiene facilities.  All design and construction took place during the pandemic and the project was completed in early 2021.

An Lac

Seattle’s International District

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural
design and construction administration for the 78,500
square-foot mixed-use property found in the Little Saigon
neighborhood of Seattle’s International District. An Lac is six
stories comprised of retail and office spaces as well as 69
affordable housing units. Developed by the Low Income
Housing Institute to also function as their home office, it has
won several awards including ‘2020 NAIOP Night of the
Stars’ and DJC’s Project of the Week. The name ‘An Lac’ was
inspired by the Vietnamese term for tranquility. It offers
sustainable design elements that focus on energy efficiency
like rooftop solar panels, fresh air ventilation, green roof
areas that reduce site runoff and specific landscaping that
reduces irrigation needs. The building also provides a large
roof deck with a panoramic lookout.

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural engineering for the 37,000 sq. ft. Low Income Housing Institute, Marion West building. The four-story 50-unit building is located in the University District. The units are studios ranging 400 square feet. The University District Food Bank is located on the ground floor. The rooftop garden supplies vegetables and herbs for the University District Food Bank.
