Seattle Wellness Center

Quantum Consulting Engineers teamed up with SRG Partnership to design and engineer the new Wellness Center for Seattle South College. The design for this facility started in early 2016 with the help from a committee of student representatives. Construction began in late August of 2020 and is expected to open during the academic year of 2022. Multi-purposed studio spaces provide flexibility for students to get as much out of the facility as possible and encourage a wide range of wellness activities to reflect the diversity of the student population. Open web wood joists repeat the entire length of the single-story building providing an elegant design and execution. From  meditation and yoga to mixed martial arts this elegant and efficient space will provide South Seattle College with a spot to encourage curiosity and community through the means of fitness

Morrow Apartments

Greenwood, Seattle

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural engineering and construction support for this 7-story mixed use building in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle. The Morrow has a variety of floor plans ranging from studios to one- and two- bedroom apartments. With sustainability in mind, this 141-unit mixed-use building has wide range of amenities including electric car charging stations, bike storage rooms and a rooftop deck with views of the city. Commercial and retail space are located along Morrow Lane on the ground floor.

The structure consists of five stories of wood framing over 3 levels of concrete slab, including the at-grade structural concrete slab and grade beam system, all supported by drilled concrete piers.  This was required due to the thick layer of peat located under the site.

Solis – 1300 East Pike

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided the structural engineering design and construction support for this 45,000 square foot 7-story mixed-use building located in the Pike-Pine corridor of Capitol Hill. Solis is built to Passive House standards that achieves better air quality and superior energy efficiency.  Solis is currently the largest certified Passive House multi-family building in Washington State.

The first floor of this highly energy efficient facility includes retail and commercial spaces along East Pike as well as the residential open-air lobby for its tenants. Floors 2-6 include 45 apartment units that range in size from studio to two-bedroom. The green roof top space is accessible for all of its tenants and includes a panoramic view of Capitol Hill, open rec spaces and an edible garden.  There is also one level of below grade parking.

Goldendale Observatory

Goldendale, WA

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural design services for the remodel and addition to the observatory.  The 4,000 square foot building is located within the 5-acre hilltop site of the Goldendale Observatory State Park. Housing one of America’s largest public telescopes, this educational space acts as a hub for viewing significant astronomical events, including the solar eclipse of 2017.   The elliptical and circular shapes in plan provide for unique spaces inside and out and required creative engineering solutions utilizing concrete, steel and wood.
