The Lake Park Townhomes are comprised of seven luxury, three level units overlooking the southern end of Lake Washington. They feature high end materials and finishes, including steel stringer stairs, private entries, two car garages, floor to ceiling sliding doors, and lots of natural light. Structural challenges included close coordination during construction of mechanical and electrical trades, flush framing throughout, and many long cantilever roof and deck elements.

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural design for four 4-story identical multi-family buildings each consisting of 3 stacked levels of residential units over one at-grade level of enclosed parking. The 144 apartment units are wood-framed and supported on top of concrete post-tensioned slabs above the parking level. Foundations consist of concrete mat slabs due to the soft compressible and liquefiable soils that exist at this site, which is located along the Columbia Rive

Quest Church

Jack Wiggins, a principal with Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural design to seismically strengthen an existing warehouse and convert it to a neighborhood church and café. The existing warehouse received new roofing and siding, and a new outdoor exit stair was added.

This project was featured in the Portraits section of The Seattle Times, Sunday, December 24th, 2006.

Birch Bay Bible Community Church

Birch Bay, WA

Quantum Consulting Engineers provided structural design services for a new 21,000 square foot church in Birch Bay, Washington. The church is the first phase of a two phase master plan situated on a nearly nine acre site. The church chose to keep the sanctuary seating capacity to approximately 600 people, in order to provide a full-size soccer field on the property and leave ample green space around the building and parking areas, appropriate for its rural setting.

The roof structure for the sanctuary features structural insulated SIPS panels that span between pre-manufactured scissor trusses spaced at 8’-0″ o.c. in order to accommodate unbraced walls over 30’ tall, laminated veneer lumber sections were used. Despite the engineering challenges, using light framed wood construction throughout the project minimized the number of trades on the project and kept the project on budget

Sequim Presbyterian Church

Sequim Presbyterian Church

Sequim, WA

John Riley was project manager for structural design of Sequim Presbyterian Church. The 16,000 SF gymnasium space adapts for both worship services and dinner theater, and it was developed with flexible theatrical lighting and sound capabilities. The structure also includes a large commercial kitchen, classrooms, and drama production related facilities. The structure utilizes wood framing and concrete masonry with steel roof trusses, concrete spread footings, and a slab-on-grade floor system.
